Triad Athletes San Diego girls youth lacrosse coaching and training interview with Kylee White

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OUR TRIAD ATHLETES?

I would tell the Triad Athletes to play lots of different sports!

They can learn so much from being on different teams; from how to be a good teammate, staying healthy, developing skills that transfer/complement other sports...

AND stay passionate about the sport you love the most!

I believe that playing so many sports when I was younger, not only helped me as an athlete, but helps me now as a coach.

WHAT INSIGHTS WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BE A DIVISION I LEVEL COACH AS THEIR CAREER?

Being a Division I Coach is the best job out there!

When I got into coaching, people would tell me to think of it more as a lifestyle than a job. It is unlike any other profession.  We have no set hours. We work long weekends.  We travel all the time.  And you have to be available to your athletes all the time.

You have to love it.  You are invested and enjoy the grind because that is what you are signing up for.

What people don't realize is that more than half the job is not even coaching!  If you love people, teaching, helping athletes achieve goals  and making an impact on young lives, it is the best!

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU OR GETS YOU MOST EXCITED IN THE MORNING?

Obviously my family (husband and kids) are first to get me up and excited about the day!  After that, it truly is my team.

I SMILE driving to work knowing that I get to see these amazing people as soon as I arrive.

Their eagerness to learn, their hard work, their silliness, the buy into this program, makes me excited because I GET TO go to work!

I know that sounds so cheesy, but I believe it. Having a team that shows up for something bigger than themselves and comes to practice excited to work hard, makes me excited to come to practice too!
