W.I.N.terview with Shannon Brady
Triad Athletes, a San Diego based youth lacrosse training program, welcomes Shannon Brady.
WHAT IS ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE OUR TRIAD ATHLETES?
You are strong, both physically and mentally. You have the tools to do anything you want. There may be obstacles on the way but know that you have people all around you that are rooting for YOU. Sometimes the path we think we will take may have a detour but being flexible and having perseverance will help you with those challenges.
WHAT MADE YOU GET INTO INDEPENDENT COLLEGE COUNSELING?
It all began in high school. I just adored my school counselor and all the help he provided. His passion for guiding students and helping them discover their strengths, both in and out of the classroom was inspiring. I gained great confidence with that relationship and knew that my career would be working with students, specifically helping them plan their academic & extracurricular profile in order to assist in the college admission process.
I began my career in Career Planning at Fordham University and then transitioned to the school setting once I received my Master's degree in School Counseling, where I was the College & Career Counselor for a large public HS in New Jersey. I've been out in California for over 13 years now and began working with students independently since then through my company, Brady College Counseling, and now with TheCollegeMIND course I can share college counseling online with students across the country!
WHAT SPORTS DID YOU PLAY GROWING UP?
I was a sports junky growing up. At a young age you would find me doing gymnastics & dance and then to become a competitive cheerleader. I tried and loved most sports but the two that I gravitated towards later on were soccer and lacrosse. I was one of the founding members of the girls lacrosse program at my high school. It was such an experience to start and grow a team from the ground up. Playing a team sport was the best. I love the comradery and hard work that comes with playing a competitive sport.
Triad Athletes is a San Diego youth lacrosse training program focused on growing womens lacrosse on the west coast.
